A new set of priorities has been set for Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) in a tough crackdown on employers underpaying their employees. Fast food, restaurants, cafes, horticulture, supply chain risks, franchisors and sham contracting are the new focus for 2019/20 financial year.

“If you are in one of our priority industries, operate a franchise system or employ large numbers of migrant workers, you should expect to hear from us,” Sandra Parker says.

In the new FWO promised crackdown, non-compliance will not be tolerated, and you will get caught.

The FWO will also use its new powers to publicly name employers who break the law to spread the message that a practice of underpayment is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
